Modem

  • A modem is a device that provides access to the Internet.
  • MODEM stands for "Modulation-Demodulation".

  • The modem connects to your ISP, which typically provides either cable or DSL Internet service.
  • Cable modems have a coaxial (or "coax") connection, which is the same type of connector found on a TV or cable box.
  • Modem gives you access to the Internet Service Subscribed.
  • Modem converts Analog signals coming from the ISP mainframe and converts it into Digital Signals for the End user.
  • Digital Signals are then routed by the router in the form of data packets giving internet access wired or wireless to the End user.
  • Router are wireless, But modems are always wired.
  • Modem never has DHCP unlike router.
